Rust Belt Baby (Edit)

Lackawanna, NY

I am a rust belt baby

A prodigal son of laborers returned home to a post-industrial landscape

Of broken down houses and abandoned buildings

And barely repurposed Catholic campuses

A land and city

Scarred by industry

Strange to be witness to

Such degrading rust

On streets my family has walked for decades

But only decades

As we are new to these lands

And now I bring my own steps to this story

That stretches across thousands of miles

And millions of years
